6600 ford pitman arm puller

Hey guys, I have a 1977 6600 ford (with a cab). I am needing to reseal the sector shaft. I was talking to a guy that said I need a low profile pitman arm puller. There is very little room, I have checked with Snap-on, it is bigger then he could get me. Does anybody have a tool manufacturer and number for this puller? I work in automotive and none of my other pullers will work / the arm is too big. Amy help is much appreciated! Thank you, Al

Hold a GOOD sized hammer against one side of the splined area and give the other side, 180? away, a few SHARP smacks with a smaller hammer you can handle accurately, and it should pop free.

Yeah, I know, "don't try this at home", "poor shop practice", 'we're all gonna die", etc., but it's been done lots of times "in the real world", and I'm sure it's happened in dealership shops, while they were using "factory approved tools' (hammers). LOL!

That's the same way I do it too! Only I use a big hammer and bucking bar! I used to use a pickle fork or a puller but they ruin the rubber seal.

Thanks guys, I'll give that a try. It was a
thought of mine but being in the repair
trade you automatically assume (working on
your own stuff) it is going to be an issuen
lol
