Good Grease Gun tip?

I've been having a heck of finding a grease gun tip that doesn't leak, so I went to NAPA the other day and bought a "heavy duty" tip. It didn't leak, but you can hardly get it off the fittings - I actually broke one fitting off trying to pull the grease gun off, so I went back to my old leaky one
Is there a good tip available?
Thanks
Pete

try this one Pete, you won't go back

Did you know those couplers are adjustable? The end unscrews to lessen the tension on the fingers. Most however come screwed on so tight from the manufacturer that you think it is going to break before it loosens. I usually have to clamp the nut part in a vise and then use vise grips on the barrel to loosen. Once loosened you can try to find a happy medium between leaking and going on and off the zerk easily.

BUT!!! The true solution is the Lock 'N Lube coupler as the other poster suggested. Once you try one of these you will wonder why you suffered so long. Yes, it costs $29 but it will be the best $29 you ever spent and actually makes greasing fun and mess free.

I vote for lock and lube too but has anyone wore one out yet cause I think I have mine started leaking suddenly a couple weeks ago now I have to get a new one

I had the same problem. Changed to the Lock N Lube and wished I had done it years sooner.

You can get a seal kit which comes with new jaws for $7.85. That's a lot cheaper than a new LnL. They ship an extra seal kit with each LnL now but back when I first bought mine they did not.

I have grease fittings you can't put your hand on due to location.
So an LNL does me no good.
My rigid tube grease gun with the index-able nozzle end works better for me.

> I don?t really like the design of the lock n lube either it?s way to big to get to most of my fittings . I?ve seen this style I like better ?Untitled URL Link

I have one of these. The problem with the Univerco is that if you build up any pressure at all on the coupler it is impossible to remove. You then have to loosen the hose on the grease gun to bleed off the pressure. The company even came out with a cludgy valve that attaches to the back of the fitting which allows you to bleed pressure. Of course this make it very unwieldy for normal everyday use.

A second problem with the Univerco is that if you get even the slightest bit of debris on the tip it blocks the ball bearings from retracting and you cannot get the coupler to stay attached.

This one is an epic fail I'm afraid.

I keep two grease guns, one has a rigid tubing in place of a hose. The other is a Lincoln with a flexible hose equipped with a lock and lube. I love it! The Lincoln was my dads and it is at least 65 years old and works like new!

I worried about the exact things you mentioned and at 30 dollars ive decided I really don?t want to try it unless it?s on sale for half price . The best thing I?ve found is keep grease zerks in good condition replace em when they start leaking more grease than goes in the fitting and replace the gun tips when they start leaking and won?t stay on . I bought some grease zerks at harbor freight once worst mistake I ever made they must have got the pattern from a 50 year old wore out zerk they wouldn?t take grease without leaking everywhere ended up throwing the whole kit in the garbage can . Went and got a set of zerks from John Deere 4 times the money but they work I also have a case ih set that I just bought that works great as well either set was around 35$ 100 zerks in each set the case set actually had a couple of style zerks that come in handy

I go through a couple a week at work, and use Milwaukee brand tips. Don't know if they are the best, just what they get. Did have the lock n lube but couldn't get in all the places to grease! We use some grease, a 120 pound keg lasts 2 days! LOL
