On the post below about you mentioned making molds. Wandering what the molds were to make. My son is an engineer and designs injection molds for rubber and plastics compounds for parts that go all over the world. My Brother in-law before he retired made and rebuilt all kinds of molds. I was always fascinated when I would get inside of tool shop. My son has patent for some kind of new oil seal. We used to be able to get a lot of drops and left over and obsolete stock and sure was handy.

Wheelchair wheels and tires for myself. 24 inch wheels is the largest down to 4 inch as the smallest wheel tire. This is just the 24 inch wheel mold. I have another style 24" wheel mold and a tire mold for each wheel mold and a hand rim mold to fit them. Those are the largest we built.

Very interesting, thanks for the pictures. Most people have no clue as to what is involved in the finished product. Brother in law was a machinist, tool and die maker, he could make it look so easy. I built a ballast weight for a tractor I had built years ago from old mold cavities and base plate used to make CV joint boots. A lot of the cavities would come back in for rebuild with parts still in them, when I restored my Ferguson and needed tie rod boots, he had just what I needed.

Good looking wheels on your chair..

Do you guys do pressure Die Casting or Sand Casting?

Worked about three weeks for a high pressure die casting company. I worked making Aluminum lawn mower frames.. Got tired of the woman that was newly promoted to supervisor running around screaming for 12 hours a day, "Go faster... You gotta meet MY QUOTA .."

27 out of 32 of us walked out mid shift one day and never went back..

No! I have never been in a place that do sand casting. I did go thru a die casting plant when they were quoting on a part of a job I was quoting on.

Thanks for the nice comment on our wheels.
