Removing graphite coating from iron

Have any of the members here been successful in removing graphite coatings from iron? I have two glass molds that need the graphite removed so I can carve embossing into them. I need to get down to the metal to have a successful carve. I could carve into the graphite but it will eventually chip out with use.

We have a local bead blasting place that does large equipment pieces as well was small items. They use steel shot and it will get it down to the bare metal.

Hello PAGlenn,

A graphite rush is what you need. It will get you found the bare metal,

Guido.

Hello Gleen

The word is BRUSH! Also you are driving the cu brush too low of an rpm. Faster speed may just work foryou,
