Can anyone tell me what this item is, it was a barn find several years ago, just wondering if it is part of the track and trolley system for loading hay into the barn.

I am betting that set up is a quick attach hook or multiple rope. If you feed the rope through the holes it will stay without needing to knot the rope. Very fascinating old item.

Is it a slip hook for lifting hay up to the barn and then you would have another rope in the offset eye to pull the load in to the barn?

I don't know exactly what they're called, but I've seen pictures of them in old catalogs. A rope goes through the holes and pinches on itself so you don't have to have a knot in the rope. That allows the rope to be adjusted for length easily. I think they were used in loose hay conveyors.

Hey Bob, that is a good one. I never even thought about naming this thing when I typed that.

Yup, that was a good one.

Looks like a manual log puller.

Just hook the log to the hook with a chain, put your fingers through the holes and PULL.

I like the modern way better.

By golly, that's it. Thank you for finding that and posting the link.

I am not sure about how to use the place that link took me to, but that sure is a duplicate of the part I have, so there are at least two of them in existence.

I tried the etsystatic.com web site and did a search with your words and it did not work.

It appeared that it wanted me to sign in with a username and password, is that correct?

Anyway, thanks for your effort.

Thank you DDG43 what a great catalog page.

I kept hitting the + sign until it was really large and I could see it well, that is really close to being identical to the one I have.

For only 22 cents back then, impressive.

Thanks for your time, I appreciate it.
