The new thermostat for my window air conditioner showed up in the mail and I stuck it in and put it to work. It seems to cycle OK but it’s still too premature to see how accurate it is. All I had to do to make it fit is drill a couple of new screw holes for mounting it up. Finding the right wires to hook up was hit and miss for a few minutes till I got the right combination but it wasn’t too tough. The new thermostat dial turns a little rough but I guess that’s what I can expect from a $10 thermostat from fleabay. Thanks again for your guidance.

Bob I just saw your message about the ‘kit’ on my original post. If this thermostat I have installed doesn’t do what I want it to do I will try your idea. I’m only out 10 bucks with this fleabay thermostat.

Hello fixerpper, and

You are welcome, that is cheap! I paid that much back in the 80's. Make sure
that the sensing tube does not touch the evaporator coils, it would make the
unit short cycle. Also you should position it about two to three coils from the
bottom of the evaporator. If it still short cycle let me know,

Guido.
