Hydraulic tubing

I have a power steering line on my tractor that has a nick on it where it apparently rubbed on something. It is not leaking yet. Would it be appropriate to braze the nick to strengthen it"

To me that is one of those if it isn't broken don't fix it or it will be. Heating it up to braze it could well make it go bad in a way worse then now. Me I would maybe slide a piece if hose over the area and clamp it down at both ends and be done with it

I would slit a piece of heater hose and slide over to prevent more rubbing, no way I would mess with it if not leaking.

Been there... First time that line is bent for any reason it will crack at that thin spot. Take it off, squirt some cleaner-degreaser through it and braze it.

(quoted from post at 18:53:09 06/05/18) Bringing a torch near oil is a good way to start one hell of a fire.

I think most people realize that. If they don't they deserve what they get.

Many a hydraulic line has been brazed in the last 50 years. Sure, some fires have been started, but very few progress beyond beating them out with an old rag, or maybe needing some water dumped on them.
