SurplusCenter's 2 stage pumps?

My log splitter's pump gave up on me today so now I'm looking for a replacement. SurplusCenter has a pretty good price on one and I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with their products. I'll be looking at the 16gpm model for about $145. Thanks Dan

I have one of theirs about that size. Works just like it's advertised.

The ram moves fast when under no load, then when it hits the load it slows down and applies more force. I haven't used mine as hard, or with the volume of splitting, that some folks do, but mine has always worked as it should with no problems.

I bought two small hydraulic cylinders from them for a couple of lawn carts. They have worked very well, and shipping was fast. I have no complaints at all.

I have bought a number of parts from them and never had a problem. I?ll use them again in the future.

....But their shipping rates can be a bit salty.

If you are buying something small then yes, the charge seems high. I've bought hydraulic valves and cylinders and it runs ~$16-$20 for a 25-40 pound package. That seems OK to me.

I've never bought a bare pump but have bought a couple of their hydraulic power packs. They worked just fine and were ~$100 less than I found elsewhere.

I've bought from them for at least 15 years now. Always got exactly what was described.

Pump and filter on order...could maybe find the pump cheaper on ebay but just didn't trust the vendor. Couldn't beat SC's price of filter assembly anywhere. Got a cool down coming this week so maybe I can get the rest of the splitting done. Thanks for the input.

I have a 33-ton log splitter, and a couple years ago the pump was failing.

I went to the Surplus Center to buy a new one. They had a USA one, and a

China-built one. I chose the USA one for 200$. Works very well.

I shoulda mentioned, I live only 20 minutes from Surplus Center. They're great to deal with in person, also, and have an extensive showroom that you can wander around in.

Years ago, Jim Burden started the business with mostly military surplus, as the business name implies. Over the years it evolved into the business it is now. Along the way, he was in and out of the boat business and chain saw business, and at one time had a store across the street, in addition to the current business, that sold everything from clothes to tools.

The other ventures were ultimately discontinued, and the current business is the sole focus.

One question on the two stage pumps flow rating...some manufacturers rate their pump's GPMs as a combined number between the first and second stage, in other words if the first stage is 13gpms and the second is 3gpms then they list this as a 16 GPM pump. SurplusCenter lists their pump as having 16gpms with the first stage and 4 with the second...do you think this is correct?

Yep, have one on my wood splitter that I built 5 yrs ago. It works fine, haven't had any problems with it as of to date. I buy a lot of hydraulic hoses and fitting from them over the years, been completely satisfied with all product I have purchased from them. I am now waiting on a shipment of Hydraulic hoses and fitting to replace all the hoses on my FEL.
