Hello,

Hung it up May 6, so far no takers? Maybe I should paint it a
more subdued color! It supposed to be squirrel prove!!!

There is a theory that birds will not nest in a red tractor Guido . I'm happy for this to be proved wrong but I have never seen one in a MF35 and plenty in Grey Fergies and yellow tractors .
Either that or they just don't appreciate your architectural style :D

Hello Charles in AUS,

I suspected as much! It will probably take me a few hours to repaint that thing.
Not even squirrels are giving it a look,

Guido.

Hello JF in MI,

I thought the color would attract birds like bees to honey......WRONG!
I suspect a more tone down finish would make it look more affordable?
Maybe Perrier water on the top water bowl would help,

Guido.

Well, from experience I can tell you birds will nest in a red tractor! I have had them get in my front grill and make nests. Started it up one day and did some discing. When I shut it down, heard a bunch of scratching. Took a look and saw 4 baby birds crawling over the radiator fins!

Got the remains of a nest in the under seat toolbox. Haven't seen the momma bird.

Hello double07,

Funny guy, it's brad new! I could give it a coat of wax HE! HE!

Guido.

Hello circus,

It is not totally full. The feed is behind the front glass. Maybe if it was full, it would look different?

Guido.

Hello Lucid,

If it's not the color then I don't know why is going on. Older feeder got a work
out, even the squirrels were trying to get some, but never did,

Guido.

I have one of those, got it at Rural King. The birds didn't rush to it at first but they are finally figuring it out. I bought it because the squirrels are just getting too fat to be healthy, lol. It is definitely squirrel proof, they climb all over it but can't get to the food. My advise would be, put black sun flower seeds on and around it to attract attention at first, just be patient.

Hello X-Y switch,

Mine was a gift probably from the same source. They gave me 40# feed bag!
At this rate it will last forever,

Guido.

Actually I am confused as the thread title says no takers for your bird [u:956a0fe9d2]house[/u:956a0fe9d2].
Maybe take down the bird feeder and put up the bird house?
Or punch out the door, clean out the feed and someone will then move in.

I still think it looks like Carl Fredricksen in Up. Birds probably scared of being eaten. Maybe they saw the movie.

Try putting black sunflower seeds in the feeder instead of the cracked corn and millet.

Those cheap little feeders are never designed right, just made to look pretty. You need to paint it in the fall or winter so the paint smell is less by spring. The roof line should be designed to overhang the feed tray so rain does not drop into the tray.
Toss it and make a better one.

I made one that is now 20 years old (made with cedar so no rot) and works thru hard rains or winter storms. I made a squirrel baffle so no squirrels can climb it. Feeders with trays work well with black oil sunflower seeds, which attract cardinals, jays, grosbeaks, nuthatch, etc.
