awning for dump truck cover

Hey folks!

I have a little 1 ton dump truck (1971 chevy c-30) and I need a cover on it to take stuff to the dump.

I also have a 20 foot camper with a good awning on it.

I thought with a little fabricating I might fit it on the truck. The only problem is that it is too wide.

Does anyone know ho these are put together and if it would be worth the trouble to try and cut the width down?

If it were me, I'd likely buy a few rolls of quality cloth carpet tape and make the awning cover to custom fit the truck bed as you wish. That would double up the edge thickness all around, and that tape really holds up well.

The awning is fine. I am looking for some guidance on cutting the roll or temsioner.

It's up to you but the best thing I did was buy a cargo net for my dump truck. The air goes through it so it doesn't billow or flap making it easier to keep secure. The picture is of the Gempler's catalog.
