A/C compresssor clutch problem

Trying to fix the a/c clutch on my wife's Subaru.. tracked the problem down to a burned coil. Replaced the bad coil with a used one that checked out on the resistance measurement and set the gap - still no action, the hub isn't being pulled in. Anybody have an idea? I should say that I'd partially pulled the compressor so I'm bypassing all the relays and limit switches, trying to do this directly from the battery. Appreciate any help.

Grounded to battery negative, resistance good and I get current in the probe light. Not activating the clutch.

Put everything back together, started the car and a/c works the way it should. I'm not even going to pretend to have an explanation, just happy it wasn't time and money wasted.

Hello markiz41,

Take your meter leads and put them together and see what kind of resistance you get. I got a suspicion that what you are reading is meter resistance and you have an open coil,

Guido.
