I've heard both good and bad about Comet pumps, but if you want quality, get a Cat pump. Northern Tool sells them. Don't know offhand where else you could look, other than a web search?

If the "pistons" are just worn out it may not be difficult to repair. On mine the rubber/cloth pistons were worn and I did a search for the pump model (Comet I think) and found a place that sold the pistons (cheap) and replaced only them. Been working great ever since.

I was able to find a new pump on ebay by application. I think it was around $100, and has been fine for at least 5 years.

I just replaced one on my pressure washer. Mine the unloader valve was bad. I got the new one off of amazon. it is a different brand than original and attached different but hooked right up and works great.

I agree with the cat pumps. General pumps are good too.

We have used Cat pumps in a self-service carwash for many years. ...They have been the most reliable units we have used.

A three piston ceramic pump. Axial pumps are best used to hold a door or window open for ventilation.
