Sand blast cabinet dust removing

Will a wet and dry vac do the job? Would a little water in bottom catch at least some of the dust? If yes, should I remove the filter?

I use a Shop Vac with mind that works fine.. You do have to clean the paper filter out ever so often, but nothing wrong with taking a brake once
in a while. Mine has a foam filter that fits around the paper filter, which needs to be in place or you will be cleaning it often..

Just get a Dust Deputy and a 5 gallon bucket, put it in-line before your shop vac and you will be good.

Without it your shop vac filter will clog up in no time. I tried a water trap using a 5 gal bucket and it didn't work near as well as the Dust Deputy. eBay has China knockoffs for about 1/2 the price but the mounting flange isn't near as robust as the original DD.

A length of PVC pipe with many holes drilled in it, across the top of the cabinet, connected to a Craftsman shop vac. Does an excellent job.

depends on your cabinet design and size of your vacuum - but make sure your gloves are firmly attached!

mine popped right off the first time I tried a vacuum.

Consider something like pvc pipe with a large hole with another slide over it to regulate the vacuum created in the cabinet.

I installed a couple of 1 1/2" soffit vents.

First thing...Don't remove the filter! That is there to protect the
motor. Look at you shopvac and see what size it is. Next go to Lowes
or Depot and buy a pack of the correct size shopvac bags. They go
inside your shop vac just like you home carpet vac. When it stops
sucking just change the bag. This way you don't chew the crap out of
your shop vac.

Never heard of such a thing. When you use these do you still use the big filter?
Thanks, Leo

A shop vac will work fine, been using one for years. Be sure to have a source for air to get in the box for circulation and to prevent to much vacuum buildup. I have a one inch hole drilled in mine and it seems to be about right. It will suck up some good reusable beads, but you can get a knockout pot to install between the cabinet and the shop vac. They cost about $50.00 It will trap the reusable beads and let the dust go through to the shop vac.
