DoAll 916A bandsaw????

Just wondering if anyone has one or uses
one? I recently acquired a DoAll 916A
bandsaw with auto feed and a 10' roller
extension table. I really do not know to
much about the unit, unfortunately never
seen or heard it run. The previous owner
said he removed it from his shop because he replaced it with a newer bigger saw. It did
come with a phase converter that supposedly he used with it.
After getting it home and in the shop, we
hooked it up temporarily to try it out. It
doesn't start or do anything. It will run
the motor if you manually press the bypass
inside the control box. That's as far as we
got with it. I did find the instruction
manual online, I still need to download it.
Any thoughts or comments would be
appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

The DoAll I have had experience with had a gearbox shifting between speeds appropriate for aluminum, or steel. There should be a handle for the change. Jim

That should make you a good saw.

It may need some TLC, depending on how it was used.

Common problems with that type saw, blade guides and bearings that untwist the blade and hold it straight get worn. Takes some patience and fine adjustment to get it cutting straight. Keeping a good blade, and the right blade for the material is essential. The owners manual should walk you through this.

As for it not running, again, the owners manual will explain the controls. It may be in automatic mode, may have reached the parts count end, may need material in the vice to run, could be a safety switch or E stop pressed, or motor overload tripped.

If the phase converter is electronic, be careful opening and closing the motor starters. Some don't like that, they must use their own controls to ramp up and stop the motors.

Ok thanks for the advice. I will get the manual and read up on it. Hopefully its something simple to get it to run.

It is probably way overkill of a saw for what I am going to do with it. I was in the right place at the right time kinda of a story. Maybe we will see.

I have a C916. No auto feed or any of that fancy stuff. Its one heck of a saw. I'll second the manual, as I have no idea how all that stuff works. I would assume certain conditions have to be met before the saw itself will run.

My brother bought a little smaller DoAll that was set up for all that automatic stuff. I believe it wasn't all there, so he just stripped it all off and made a manual saw out of it.
