Just bought this tool

After looking at it, I just ordered 1 for myself. I have a heck of a time getting the tool on my lathe centered, maybe I can learn to use it with this tool and won't break so many. LOL Keith

Cute, but I can't see the need. Only works on round stock and from the look, not to large of stock either.

I just figured out the dimension from the bed to the centerline and milled the ends of a piece of tubing to that length. When I need to set a tool, just stand it on the bed, raise or lower the tool till flush and lock it down, go cut something.

I was a machinist for many years. I apprenticed under a 30 year navy machinist. among the many things he taught me, to center your tool, place your 6" rule against your stock. run your tool lightly against the rule. if your tool is centered, the rule will be perfectly vertical. RIP Don Potter

Only works if you are using round stock and the surface is pretty good though.
