I always like to read updates so here's mine. We bought the adapter to run 20 volt batteries in 18 volt tools. Used it yesterday on our fencing job. Worked great. With only 3 tools left using 18 volt I hated to buy more batteries, when those tools give up I will buy the 20 volt version. Someone mentioned that the adapter sticks in the tool, yes it does! It's a struggle to remove. Not an issue on this job because I'm only using the circular saw.

The dewalt circular saws use up batteries. Try using you sawsall and a square instead. When I built horse fences I tossed my little 1000 Kubota generator in the front basket of the Honda Rancher, and used ac saw.

I've been having problems with some of my 18 volt batteries as well, of the last 4 I've bought 2 didn't last 6 months.
My saws-all and 4 1/2" side grinder have both broke and need replaced so looks like I'll be upgrading to some 20 volt tools soon.
I was at Rural King today and they had Dewalt tools on sale, the adapter, two 20 volt batteries and charger where on sale $30 off so I picked up another $30 adapter, that'll get me started on switching over as I still have five 18 volt Dewalt tools.
Was going to pickup a new side grinder but the only thing they had left in stock was a flex volt model for $300, I'll pass on that one.
