Sears Allstate hand crank winch

My friend was going to scrap this and I couldn't let it go. Not sure if it worth anything or if anybody might be interested in it . The only picture I have right now is not very good and will get a better one tomorrow

Hey a winch is a good tool to have. Keep it under cover and wide it down with some oil. Good rescue.

I have an old hand cranked winch on the front of my big tandem axle trailer. Don't remember if it sears or Mongomery wards. Gets used 4 or 5 times a year. No reason to buy a new electric winch. Haven't found anything yet that it won't pull on the trailer.

Here are some better pictures and model number 813 8928 or 83 8828 where you attach the handle it is 3/4 in square . I haven?t be able to find any info yet on line.

Original would be nice so I will keep looking . At one time I had a set os sockets that where 4 point like 45 years ago. Not sure if they are still at my moms house but i am going to have to check . Thanks for the idea.

that looks just like mine. It was made by Gold Foundry and Machine Wks Independence Mo. That is cast into the drum. I do not have any 3/4" handles right now. Will be going to several actions coming up. Will look for one. If you find one let me know.

That's exactly like mine, I have it mounted on the front channel iron on my trailer and I lengthened the jack handle so it reaches to the outside of the trailer. My son used it one day to haul a 1 1/2 ton 1947 chevy truck with flat tires and sunk into the ground. He said it pulled it up onto the trailer easy.

Now I need a trailer but I'm afraid if I get one I'll be pulling all kinds of treasures out of the mud and bring them home

(quoted from post at 06:05:18 04/05/18) Unless you are looking for originality, why not make a crank out of an 8 point socket and some flat and round stock.
I think I'd start with a piece of 1" square tube 1/8" thick, just long enough to clear the other axle's end. Weld a piece of flat bar or angle to that, put a bolt on the other end of the angle with maybe a piece of PVC for a handle. Except for the PVC it'd look very much in-character but it would last much longer than wood.

If you don't want it or get tired of tripping over it I might be interested.

Just get some square tube that will slide over the square drive shafts, and make a crank, for now. Keep looking for an original one.

Clam Digger, I had a trailer stolen last month with one of those on it. (that's not it, but, mine was the same). Had mine for 45 years and sure would like to replace it.
Would you sell it to me?
Thanks
