Speaking of electricity Mig welder.

MIG welder {miller 210] still working intermittently . If I go out now it will work for five minutes then stop feeding. Roller is free wire loose on spool . Got a good 220 volt feed . No movement of rollers to feed wire. { I did rediscover how much fun gas welding is and how much more puddle control you really have.] But need the MIG for bigger stuff.

Have you put a meter on the drive motor power leads to see if power is on to the motor when it won't feed?

Typically DC. Voltage will vary based on position of wire speed control so can't give you an exact value to look for. If no power then you'll have to trace the leads back to whatever board they connect to. That's where the troubleshooting will get tougher. If there is power to the motor and it won't run then I'd first look for a broken connection or bad winding on the motor.

I'm going to guess, broken wire in the cable, dirty switch contacts in the handle. Look the handle switch over closely. Especially if the rubber cover is gone or torn.

Just a mater of getting in there with a volt meter and finding out where the problem is.

Been years since I worked at Tracker Marine as a maintenance man but back then I worked on a lot of the Miller welders. Many time the switch in the handle will go bad and cause odd problem like your having or a broken wire between the handle switch and the welder it self and when you move around to weld the break makes and for a moment or 2 then breaks so the feed motor stops.

When it quits working the next time hold the trigger down and shake/wiggle the plug that attaches the feed control wiring to the welder from the gun. IF it starts to feed then you have a bad connection or a broken wire. I would bet broken wire. Guys drag the gun around and pull sideways on the gun lead at the welder. This really stresses the gun wiring. It is not made to drag the welder around with. Also watch how you store the gun/cable. I see guys coil them TIGHT to where the wires and liner in the gun are bent at a 90 degree angle right at the welder.

I have posted several times where to go to get the professional help on fixing your Miller 210 wire feed, Seems like ya really don't want to get it fixed, just want to complain about it not working as it should. Duane 55 has helped me on several welders over the years, 3 Millers, 1 Lincoln. I will post the website one more time
Ya have to register in order to post, the same as on this website!!!
