Lathe Steady Rest

I ordered a steady rest for my lathe, brand new one for $350 from Logan, cheap money compared to losing body parts

Hi , some years ago I bought a big Halifax lathe made in england. It weighed 2 ton. 8ft bed. When I got it home and unloaded, I thought it was way to big for me. The machine shop/mechanic fellow down the road from me had a 10" swing Atlas. We made a trade . The Atlas had tail stock, steady, precision tools 4 and 3 jaw chuck , back plate for off set turning. I luck out. Ed Will Oliver BC

This was my dad's lathe, he complained it did not have a steady rest way back in the 60s.

So I kind of wanted one.

Good for you David. That new steady rest will do two things. One you will be safer when turning longer stuff. Also it opens up a whole lot of other things you can now turn. I bet that I use my steady rest well over half the time.
