Found in my uncle's basement. He was a poor farmer and never had much so I can't imagine what this is.

Saw jointer, for hand saws and crosscut timber saws, anything with a straight blade. You clamp a file in it, it holds the file square to the saw blade as you lightly file the points of the teeth. This makes the teeth all the same height, with a little flat spot at the point. Then you sharpen each tooth until the flat spot just disappears.

There is a similar tool for circular saws, I always cheated with skillsaws, put the blade in backwards, and just touch the concrete floor with it.
