Place I used to work had a set of pipe taps, reamers, and dies along with the handles.

They were in a wooden box with a place for each piece. Amazingly they were all there, all original pieces best I could tell.

Strange story behind it, as told by more than one of the "ol' timers" that had been there forever...

The set was found outside a few days after a huge flood has receded. That was 1949, but the tools look to be much older.

Wish I could have gotten some of that stuff out of there. The place was going down hill fast. It closed a couple years after I left. They left in a hurry, left everything behind. Probably all went in the trash.

This set has been around the farm for a long time. I never used them. I don't know if you can get parts for them or not? This set looks complete though....

Originally called a screw Plate Set. It was an important step from an actual screw plate which was a plate of high carbon steel with various "standardish" sizes of threads created in it. Each had notches and a tapered side (probably 6"X8"X1/2" thick). Not too handy at all, but what was available. Yours is beautiful. I have similar tools, but not complete. Jim

(quoted from post at 22:26:38 03/09/18) It's a little rusty, not sure if I should try to clean it or just leave it alone.....

Get some oil on them at least. 4/0 steel wool and light oil will remove the surface rust.

The only way you would need parts is if you loose them. These are made to last till the 2nd coming. Dont do a thing to them just use them.
