another tool of the day

I found this in a surplus electronics store, and knew that it would come in handy. I don't use it often, but when you need to pull a wire through a hole, or grab something small where there is little room to work, you can't beat it.

looks a lot like those clamps to remove fish hooks that are hooked deep with in a fish's mouth. catch and release.

Dan; Is the tip of the top arm of the tool in your picture supposed to be bent up like that? It seems like it would defeat the purpose, or maybe I completely don't understand how it works.

On a similar note, I got a set of the cheapie HF long-reach pliers many years ago, and they've saved me all sorts of frustration over the years. Mine had straight, 45 and 90 in it for 10 bucks. The set below has straight and 45 for about 8. Not a tool for heavy gripping, but sure handy for getting into places my big fumbly fingers can't go! Yet another case where a cheap tool sure beats no tool at all--I'm sure I could spend several times what I paid on a better set, but these have saved my bacon enough times to be well worth their cost.

A few years ago Old went to a store to buy such a tool. He gave the proper name, but I cannot spell it. Such tool is used in joining electronics parts for soldering. Yes Old was an electronics technician in the Navy. I have a similar tool given to me by a vet to press blood veins closed when dehorning cattle. I never dehorned a cow and never will. I just dehorn my calves with an angus bull.

Hemostat, used in the medical profession. They come in different sizes and styles. Have a lot of them and use them when stitching up animals.
