I cant reply to your reply but I have a 2 inch pipe about 4 inch tall straight up

I see, the same thing would work but use different elbows to achieve same result.
You know, it sounds crazy, but I am wondering if you could fit an old fashioned hinge type tractor rain cap on top of your vent. It would certainly reduce the amount of vapor lost I would think. May have to tinker with it to get proper fit/seal but heck, that's half the fun.

If I use pipe and elbows do I need to put a cap on top and drill holes it top if so how big?

I left mine open but it was less that an inch. I really cant say about yours but I think it would be okay open. You could probably use plastic and vinyl tubing that would be easier to work with and much cheaper than pipe but, I don't know if it goes up to two inches or not.
