Remodeled a house recently and found these on the wall behind a cover plate, wires feeding the outlet box were dead, wires out led to under a window and cut off, maybe an old baseboard heater? They have a little button on the top, electric wholesale store did not know what they were. ??????

It's a switch.

Push the little black button, it will click, the contacts will open.

It's not all there, normally there would be a lever on top, something to actuate the button.

Very common item.

Sometimes installed to only allow the air conditioner to operate when the windows are closed . There are some people that for what ever reason. They think they want a window open for fresh air when the heating or cooling is operating.

I have micro switches like that on my drag bike to kill the ignition momentarily while the air cylinder pops it into the next gear.

Technically...

"Micro Switch" is a brand name. They make hundreds, thousands, of different types of switches, photocells, electronic components.

The generic name would be a "plunger actuated snap-acting switch".

Typically found inside some type enclosure, used as a limit switch.

Better look for a new more knowledgeable electrical wholesaler. Lol. What did you do to the wall in the area you found the switches? Tap around on it is there a hidden safe there? Maybe the switches triggered and alarm when a painting was moved covering it. Humorous antidote I thought.
