Used to have one here that my FIL shared with a neighbor. I gave it to him after Dad passed away and ha's gone now, too. I could never weld with it. Why do you want one? His place is still in the family and it may still be there.

I had one the first welder I ever had . and I was just looking one to see if it was as good as i remember it the one i had you could braze with and charge batteries do you have any idea if they might sell it if they still have it thanks lee

Is this what it looks like?

If so, my dad had one like it. Brings back some memories!

First welder I ever tried to use, and I could never get it to weld either. But then I was about 10, I think. And the rods were probably just as old! But I don't recall anyone else getting it to weld either, so I never really tried. Dad didn't want me messing with it as it was his battery charger, that is mainly what it was used for.

I remember it had several attachments, one was some kind of "carbon arc" something, never tried to make it work, but it had 2 carbon rods that angled toward each other?
Forney Welder

I have 3 of the old Forney farm welders. I bought 2 of them that would not weld properly. All it took to repair the was to replace the capacitor in them. A $25 fix.

Map quest say you are 210 miles, 3 hour 11 min ride from me here in Va. You will have to travel after it. I will not ship.
Still interested ?

Got to be one of the poorest welders made. Neighbor had one & It would not burn a 7018 rod no matter how you tried.

Probably the best welder ever made for the market they were designed for. The rod, 7018 is a beautiful rod for DC reverse. AC welder doesn't like it. I have two of the red forney's. They have served me well. The brutes will run at 180 amp setting most of a day long and not kick a 30 amp breaker.

The carbon arc also works great to heat stuck and rusted nuts. Pull the carbons together on each side and hold. Even the carbon will get red hot!

If you want to signal the neighbors a carbon arc makes a great yard light at night. Doesn't last long without moving the carbons together.

That is more than i was looking to pay there is one on ebay for 125 that is around what the one i have seen sell were bringing thanks

My dad bought a used one back around 1960. I learned how to weld with it and got pretty good with it, I thought any way. It also came with a carbon arc torch, and I got so I could braze some pretty thin sheet metal with it. Kinda like shooting sqirrels with a 30-60, a little too much gun for the job. You had to turn it way down. If you had to straighten any thing large like a coulter shank, you had to go slow and not get too close or the carbons on the torch would get added to the steel and make it brittle.
