I just purchased a John Deere 3020. Yesterday it was 20 degrees outside. When I went to place the tractor in gear the clutch did not seem to disengage the motor from the transmission. I let the tractor warm up for about 15 minutes with the tranmission in neutral. That did not seem to help. I keep trying for about 10 more minutes when all of a sudden the clutch seemed to work and I could shift the transmission. What is happening or what am I not doing? I can feel the gears hitting but not going together. Is there something I need to adjust?

On like that can be a number of things. Oil/grease in the area can do that due to it being cold. Or if it is below freezing could be water on the disk that iced up and froze the disk to the flywheel

Somehow the clutch disc was stuck to the flywheel/pressure plate. If it has been parked for a while, could
have been stuck with rust. Or ice, cold grease will do it since it was so cold.

Try cutting a block, fabing a hook, piece of chain, something you can block the clutch pedal down when you
park it.
