You just need two extremely bored men on either end of a rod running through it. Kinda like the guys who used to walk around and around packing the small upright silos back when they would fill them in one day. Dad always said it was a good job for a man who hated himself.

Ok I had you hanging last night now you got me. Even with rrlunds input I still don't know. LOL

did the round and round thing when I was about 9 with one of my uncles up there with me. We did this for the guy who owned the field cutter so he would cut my Grand Dads silage. I knew that job sucked within a few minutes.

Randy, You brought back a memory of one silo filling story my dad told me. He forked into the ensilage blower while Jess Snay forked it around in the silo. Jess was kind of slow and my dad would tease him (I'm gonna cover you up!) Jess would reply your not gonna cover me up! Jess would pull his kerchief over his face and hat down tight and climb up. He said he climb down just covered in haylage almost make you itch thinking about it. Another story while out in the field they'd yell (Hey Jess what time is it?) He couldn't tell time but had a pocket watch and would pull it out and open it up and show him. My dad was hired on that farm in 1947 to drive the JD B. The farmer had used horses for years and had an accident. He was yelling whoa , whoa and backed over the harrow!

Dad and Uncle Donald were in the silo, packing one time. Donald looked up and saw the clouds moving over. It must have been quite an illusion because Dad said he dove down face first and yelled "Hang on,it's going over!".
