Hour Meter for New Compressor

Just ordered a new Quincy QT-54 compressor. Really excited about having a two stage compressor that can finally meet my air requirements. I've suffered long enough (literally decades) on a single stage compressor that is loud as bleep. :)

I want to install an hour gauge for maintenance purposes and was hoping someone can provide me a gauge part number that would work on this unit. Compressor is 240V and I was thinking I could install the gauge off of one leg of the compressor relay.

Any model numbers or wiring suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

There are a lot to chose from.

Some operate on line voltage, magnetic motor fields, vibration...

Here are some to choose from, Ebay might have better prices.

Just be sure it counts up, not down. Some are resetable, your choice.
Hour Meters

Quincey Compressor GOOD STUFF

I usually mount an hour meter,HOBBS, in the magnetic starter box "across the line".

Of course, I am referring to a 7/12 hsp, 3phase unit.

I bought a 240 volt meter for mine off ebay. I just hooked it to the 2 motor leads. Hour meter runs when the motor runs.

I'm actually surprised how few hours actually accumulate on it. Its probably been on there around 10 years and is showing 78 hrs.

Can't help you with an hour meter but you made a great choice for th air compressor. In fact, any blue air compressor is a great choice. Affordable USA made quality.

Right = = so I have 2 hot and a ground coming from the cutoff box. So with a 240v hour meter, which I've found thanks to posts here, would I hook up each leg of the hour meter to one of the posts on the meter or just select one hot and the other goes to ground?

Curious if the owners manual even lists maintenance by hours ? or if it is just daily or yearly ?

Thanks all for the responses.

So excited about this compressor that I'm about to pee myself. My old Craftsman horizontal single stage compressor has done me well for countless years (I bet 25 to 30) and is still running strong. But I get frustrated trying to pump up RV tires to 110 psi on a compressor that only hits 120 at max. And now I'll have enough CFM to power my sandblaster with ease, etc. And imagine a compressor that I'll be able to hear myself think when it's running. Can you tell I'm excited? lol

Congratulations on your purchase. Try to resist the urge of adding bells and whistles to it that you don't need. Are you the only one responsible for maintaining this unit? If you are, then your money is better spent on quality synthetic oil and a good piping system. Doubt you'll ever miss an oil/filter change. Even without the hour meter.

great//the extended warrantee demands you change oil and filters at 25 hours. I dont know when mine will get to that.

Not going too fancy. Just a simple hour meter so I can monitor when to change the oil/filter. It'll make it easier for sure to know when instead of guessing. Piping wise,
I'm in the midst of installing a 3/4" RapidAir system. I have a barn and shop side by side (10' apart from each other) and have already buried the air pipe between the
buildings. Working on the drops for both building over the next 2 weeks.

Quincy compressors are great compressors, QT series are splash lubricated but still good pumps, make sure to keep in full of oil.
Know someone with a QT5 that they let run low on oil, trashed one rod and the crank, replacement pump as 3/4 the cost of a complete compressor.

I have a Quincy QR25 series with a oil pressure lubed Model 325 pump built in 1977, never been into but it has a valve leaking a little in the head, still usable but leaks down, need to rebuild the head but may go ahead and do a full rebuild.

Never had a hour meter on a compressor but thinking about adding one now.
