impact driver bit set

Are you asking about a set of bits or a whole cordless impact driver. I got a DeWalt cordless drill and impact driver set for Xmas about four years ago. I always thought that the little things were useless but I find that I use it a lot.

I bought a Milwaukee impact driver bit set. They have a shaft that flexes to handle the impact drivers banging and stay inserted in screw head.Works far better than regular drill driver bits.

I have a stack of sets in the shed that are of all different price ranges. Most were gifts years ago. I have never broke or stripped any of them. I carry three common screw bits in my left side pocket every day along with a chuck key. I have broke several of the drill bits that came in the sets and I would guess it was from miss use. I lost a few Philips bits when away from home working and picked up one at the lumber yard from their display case on the counter. As much as they cost they should be high quality. We use them in production at the factory I have not replaced one in years. Screwing 1/4" screws into plastic is not high torque for sure.

For casual use almost anything would work to be honest. I've used standard "screwdriver" quality for years before all this hardened stuff came out and no issues.

Personally, I got a Hitachi set that's hardened and it's just fine and cost only a couple of bucks more than a non-hardened set.

Only place where I'd want the hardened stuff for sure is driving lag bolts.

By impact driver you talking about the one you hit with a hammer or a screw gun type? For the hammer type I use snap on. Used it alot on the deere planter press wheels and never broke any bits. If it's for the battery type I really like the Milwaukee bits. Also a Milwaukee 18 volt fuel driver is hard to beat.
