Direct drive Speedaire compressor

Any experience with or comments on a Speedaire 80-gal air compressor? There's one for sale near me that looks good, but I've had no experience with a large capacity direct drive compressor. This is not one of those little oil-less noise monsters like I now have. The pump looks much like a regular belt-drive pump, except it is connected directly to the electric motor.Comments appreciated.

We had some direct drive compressors years ago. They were high pressure, made 300 PSI for a leak check process.

Don't remember what brand they were. They were 2 stage compressors. We did have a problem with them, cylinders were aluminum. The low pressure cylinder never gave a problem, but the high side did not hold up. The cylinders would gall. After several warranty repairs, I had them sleeved with iron liners. That solved the problem.

Speedaire has been around a long time, sold by Grainger, seem to be decent quality. They are probably 3 phase motors, if that is a concern.

Is it still under power? Can you see it run?

Speedaire is good equipment. Is it a screw type or piston type?
