Hello

I found a broken exhaust valve tip. Here is a picture of the
piston top. It does not look like the valve was hitting the
piston. Just a bit of carbon build up,

I'd say your lucky it didn't punch a hole in the top of the piston.

What kind of engine?

B&S 6.5 hp industrial engine I think. No markings anywhere on the engine. Got the valve kit coming,

Yep, the owner was lucky.The valve kit is available. Used commercially since 2001. I would say fix and sell. It's up to him,

I was given a low hour, "made in China" Honda clone generator with exactly same problem. A replacement Honda valve ($10) had it again running fine.

The generator has since accumulated 80+ hours during a couple recent power outages. Best $10 I've ever spent!

About $35 will get this one going! It's had a hard life. Now it is occasionally used for a few hours a year. Not mine, fixing it for my friend. I did use it 5 years ago for ten days with no problem. It will cost him the price of the parts,
