Back in 1990 I ordered a 14" chop saw from HF. It got here and was a Ryobi brand. I bought it to build a portible bandsaw, to mill out logs. It did a lot of cutting of metal in the last 27 years. A couple days back it shucked out a brush and broke the brush holder. I had replaced the brushes a couple years back with some from ereplacement parts, com, but had to file them down to fit into the holders.
I figured it was doomed when it died again a couple days back. Went on line to ereplacement parts.com but no parts listed for this model, so I went to HF with 20% off flier in hand to see what they had.
Low and behold the Chicago Electric saw they had on display had very similar looks to my old Ryobi as far as the motor housing and gear head was concerned. I bought it, and when unpacking it, there was an extra set of brushes with it. The brushes for the new CE saw fit my old one perfectly and the cap that holds the brush fit perfectly. I googled ereplacement parts, but they have no listing for CE tools.
Have any of you got a place to order CE parts?? If I can get a brush holder, I think I can get my old Ryobi up and running again. It is a model C356 sn#373473 There are parts listed for newer C356s but not for one this old. As I said the newer brushes are bigger, but as I said the brush holder broke this time and that is what I need.
