2017 Toyota Tacoma

Bought this truck last week. Bottom of the barrel at 240083. Two wheel drive and no rear seats. It has a plastic composite bed. I'm retired and don't go out in foul weather where I would need 4wheel. I'm by myself so don't need rear seats. As for the composite bed, I know some planes fly with composite verticle tails. I asked if I could carry a Lawn tractor(related to post) and they said no problem. Bed may fail long after I'm gone. They said a lot of contractors buy the access cab Toyota to throw their tools into. It doesn't look like a 4 door truck until you open the doors.

Very good trucks, should last a long time. I bought a new Nissan similar to that in 1986. Was near basic model, paid $11,400 ... 4wd option was $1000. I never used 4wd much, first time I drove it in snow I got stuck!! lol

My brother and his wife traded in her 3 year old Camaro and his 4x4 Dodge for a 2017 four door 4x4. They really like it.

Those trucks are tough. We used them at my last job. We beat the heck out of them day in and out. The frames were all replaced for free because of manufacturers defect in the undercoating. Some frames were twisted and they still replaced them. People knock them but they are great trucks.

Run them about 100000 miles and get rid of it before it starts $100.00 you to death. We got dozens of them traded in at the dealership with that milage on them. All went to a auction. Simply costs too much to fix them.

I have 2002 Tacoma 4x4 with V6. Original owner. 149 000 Miles. only changed the power steering pump so far! THATS IT. Timing belt and anything else thats not consumable is still original. My frame was changed this year on warranty! Toyota has done well so far. Been to dealer(stealer) maybe 5 times in 15 years. You will be ok for long time.

Can't really speak to anything that new, but my '78 SR5 went about a half-million miles before it finally shelled the motor. The odometer crapped out sometime after the third turnover so I'm guessing. In the 90s their V6 had head-gasket problems but AFAIK they fixed that.

Toyota opened a huge truck plant in San Antonio, Tx. several years ago......Like Ford (back in the '49-'50-'51 era) used to have a window sticker: Made in Texas by Texans with a rope around it (a Lasso), they have one on their trucks: Made here, used here. My Silverado was assembled in Mexico and used here!
