home security (OT) how to hook up?

Son got us a new home security system (Abode brand), I am trying to hook it up. One of first steps is to connect the main box (called the gateway) to an open ethernet port on our modem. Well we don't have any open ports on our modem, and we don't have our old router any more, which had several open ports. We have a wireless gadget now that replaced our router. The wireless gadget has no ethernet ports. Abode's help web site is no help, although it did say the gateway box has no wifi capability, which is what I think is needed! Any one who can share experience with Abode or other home security installation, I would appreciate any help very much.

a wireless repeater or range extender (often have different names but do the same thing) with Ethernet port should work for what you want to do.
Once it is configured on the wifi you should be able to plug in the security system via the Ethernet port.
Here is one from staples.

or get a "wireless bridge".. that will connect your security system to the wifi in the house.https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cisco-Linksys-

These older models sell for around 29 bucks...
