air compressor drain valve

Well here is the decision. we have a 60 and an 80 gallon tank neither of them very new. probably rusty inside. After thinking about it and the chances for rust to get down and probably make the valve leak, decided to go with the manual lever valve out where it can be reached easily everyday or whenever someone walks by them. I do have a brand new electric valve now, if I ever replace a compressor with a new one.

I used a brass flair nut fitting and cap. Cut deep grooves in the threads with a cut off wheel. So when the cap is tight it's sealing on the thread end. When loose it bleeds water through the groove. If it doesn't, just loosen the cap til it's off. Probably will blow too hard after it clears itself. At least it'll clear itself. I never had to remove it all the way.
