what color to paint a South Bend 13 Lathe

The paint was peeling very badly on this lathe. While trying to remove the bad paint I have seen green in a few cervices and also about three different shades of gray. I assume gray is the best color to go with.

Check this out. I believe from the factory they were a shade of green, unless they were destined for the US Navy them everyone of those were Battleship Grey

My best guess would be machine tool gray.

Paint it a color you like. My own choice would be a light green.

Can't remember the model #s, but the South Bend threadcutters I trained on half a century ago were all machinery gray. Wish I had one now!
