I went to a machine shop auction last Sat. These things came in a Box of Misc that I bought. The machinist was capable of building most anything, and he may have made these. What are they?

Definitely looks like small slide hammers, but for what I haven't a clue. Maybe something he made for a customer that didn't work as expected? Failed prototype maybe? I don't see any signs of wear or use.

My guess parts of a much larger machine. I used to reverse-engineer drawings for parts like that so we could go around the oem form replacements.

A lot of engineering in those tools. The slide is not allowed to turn on the shaft for some reason which indicates they are much more than slide hammers.

Could be the slide is also a handle to be able wiggle the other end down into whatever it is that needs hammered out. This would explain why the slide will not turn. Pretty obvious they were custom made to do one specific task.
