Stihl FS36 question

I have this trimmer with a apolycut head that I want to remove and put back the string trimmer head and I'll be damned if I can figure how to remove it. I seem to remember putting a rod in to lock the head but I can't find a hole to stick it in. No jokes please!!! Can anyone help me and show me how to get this thing off?

That guy is not to bright because you don't have to take the whole head off to replace line. The only time you remove the whole thing is if head is broke or wore out.

You didn't watch the youtube post. That guy was showing how to replace the string on a Stihl trimmer. You do not have to take the head off to replace the string. There are two slots in that head and that head comes apart and you replace the spool of string. You also use the correct steel rod instead of a nail if you need to take head completely off.

Have some coffee and read the ORIGINAL post. Read slowly and carefully, move your lips if necessary. A Stihl Polycut head and a string head are NOT the same things. Look it up and learn. Then come back and apologize.

YES, you have to insert a rod in a small hole in the head to "lock" the shaft so you can spin the retention nut free. This hole can be hellish to find as it gets perfectly filled and camouflaged with wet grass dust.

That video is the correct way to replace the head on a Stihl trimmer. But that guy in the you tube video was talking about replacing the
string and you don't have to take head off to replace string on a Stihl trimmer you just replace the spool inside that head.

Left hand thread Jim.

I really don't see what difference it makes on the head design... LEFT HAND THREADS. Lots of negative comments for something so simple.

I wish they come up with a universal symbol for a left hand thread, and plaster that all over the tool. I've messed up some pretty expensive stuff because of that...when it's a small 1/4x28 bolt, doesn't take much torque for that to snap or strip.
