Dishwasher is a tool too!

Last couple of loads of dishes the washer is not draining. Bailed out the water and does not appear to be plugged. It Is a Frigidaire about 10 years old I would guess. I suppose I will disassemble the strainer in the tub and see if I can see anything wrong before I pull it out and pull the pump. The first thing that comes up in the fix it section is to buy a new impeller and seal kit to rebuild the pump. Thanks in advance, Roy

Mine had those symptoms. It was a plugged up discharge hose, the one from the dishwasher to the drain. It was a real bear to clean as it was a small diameter corrugated plastic hose.

I pulled out the strainer and basket. There was enough stuff in there that it was probably plugged. I took out the crud and rinsed it several times with hot water and sucked it out with the shop vac. Looks pretty clean now. Running a load now. If it works as it should, I fixed it. If not I will take the discharge hose off and clean it, and see if that works. I will report later. Thanks, Roy

Mine did that a while back.

Took the pump apart, didn't find anything wrong. Cleaned the screen, the discharge hose, made sure the disposal was clear.

Put it back together, still working. I think maybe something was jamming the impeller, fell out when I took the pump out.

Hello I'm Roy,

Time for a deep clean all the way to the pump. It's clogged enough that it times out before it is empty,

Guido.

Try running the washer with two coffee cups full of epsom salts crystals instead of the normal soap.
The salts really remove any soap and grease residue that is left after removing any blockages . Run the washer with no dishes and on the hottest , longest setting .

just do not do what i did while back got hurry put wrong soap in, it will clean dishes and the floor, be while for i live that one down.

Cleaning the debris out of the tub sump did not help. I guess I need to pull the pump and drain hose and make sure they are clean.

Baking soda and vinegar. Our dishwasher is two years old and started doing this. I typically do the dishes because my wife thinks a dishwasher is also a garbage disposal. Finally caught up with us on this. I found a video on YouTube describing the mix of baking soda and vinegar to use. I did this twice the second time letting the mixture sit longer. No issues since. Oh yeah, started out doing the normal clean the screen, check the hose...

Had been using the Afresh tabs in there to "clean" the dishwasher. Going to stop buying those and just doing baking soda and vinegar. Cheaper and works better.

Frigidaire Dishwasher? I'm on my second one, love their simplity, but they're up to $249.99.99.99 from the $199.99.99 I paid roughly 10 years ago. It still washed fine, but the mechanical things of it were wearing out and beside, for what it cost and what it has done for me.....wink!

Fast Forward. So I decided it was time to replace the Maytag (Refrigerator...frigid-aire appliance, like in cold things) this year. Was in Lowes going to buy another one like the one I have and after walking the displays chose a Samsung instead. Not sorry, super frige. But that's not the point. Lowes had a multi appliance sale going so I decided to replace the kitchen stove which was old enough to warrant a replacement and with a $50 discount on the listed price.

Sure nuf, Frigidaire (a frigid-air manufacturer) made that too (a hot air appliance) and price was right in line with the dishwasher and the performance was nice and simple, no gimmicks, no doo-dads, just plain functionality for old minds, nice and simple.

In this world of ours today, sometimes it's nice to have something that isn't controlled by your telephone or remote control......course there are other things that are nice having that like not having to get up out of your easy chair to adjust the volume or change the channel on your TV.

Must be the time of year or something.

Our Frigidaire dishwasher did the exact same thing on the weekend.
Unhooked the hose and blew out the line that goes to the drain stack.
All is well now.

I scrubbed down two pistons from the 70 diesel . Then placed them the wife's almost new and very white interior dishwasher . Pistons looked clean and dry however the inside of the dishwasher was a deep shade of grey. Two more washes with extra soap, high temperature pot scrubber function did lighten the interior some .
I am still reminded of the crime two decades later.

Well you could have overhauled your motorcycle engine on the kitchen table, in the winter, with open flame gas heaters in the
house.........Grin

have heard of guys that installed an old dishwasher in their shops for cleaning parts. Of course that requires a heated shop, or a southern climate.

I do the dishes here.
My wife fixes the meals and I clean up the kitchen and do the dishes.
I have dealt with issues of clogged drains and built up crud in the pump sump. This is our third dishwasher.
I know the commercials say I don't need to, but I rinse off as much crud as I can from every piece that goes into the dishwasher.
Dishwasher stays clean and dishes come out clean.

Of course, where else could you do it.
Too cold outside.
