Re: Woodsplitter pump woes

There are many different types of orings, different materials, hardness, etc. Not sure what flat rings are? Back up rings? Possibly quad rings?

If this is a hydraulic shop, they should be able to match the piston design with the proper seal.

But for the seals to have only lasted 2-3 years, came out hard and crumbling, and you say it is getting hot, something doesn't sound right. A log spliter should not run that hot.

Is the pump unloading between cycles?

Baum Hydraulics has every cylinder seal you'd ever want, they have photos, and are listed by dimensions.

Since you apparently have it apart, note the style of seals and measure 'em up and look in their catalog, on their website.
