We have a 5KC39HN2710DX jet pump on an old well to pump garden water.
I think it has a bad foot valve, so we turn on the pump only when we want water.
"Somebody" turned it on, watered, shut off the sill cock, and forgot to turn off the breaker.
A couple days later, I heard the pump running, and turned off the breaker - should have diagnosed the situation,
did we have water or not, etc - but I did not.
Now when the breaker is on, pump hums but does not turn, the pump thermally stops after maybe 30 seconds. It will reset OK.
I've tried spinning the motor shaft with a cordless drill (both directions), but it doesn't "pick up" and run.
What might I try - test - next?
TIA
