I HATE when that happens!

Was out greasing the spindle zerks on the riding mower a couple of days ago. And yes, stupid me forgot I was wearing a "newer" pair of jeans! Well, grabbed the grease gun and went to fill the first spindle. WHAT?!?!? liquid had just come pouring out the bottom end of the grease gun, all over my jeans! It was a mess! ...And to top it all off, I ran out of grease! ARG!!!! Now I have more Lucas Heavy Duty grease, though that's not the grease I bought last time.

Whatcha think makes that happen? I know it's something to do with separation, but WHY??

I like my grease in 5 Gallon Pails (Bulk) and use no cartridges...

Seems impossible to find good stiff grease in pails anymore..some I have is no stiffer than Corn Head grease and I use it in steering boxes, etc..

Guess all we can do is switch, but I can get much MORE grease in the gun my way..!

I have that happen when the gun doesn't get used very often, and seems to be worse in hot weather.

If I hang it with the hose end up, the oil will drain out as it separates.

And, the new pants, they attract things like grease, paint, sharp objects... Just like clean shirts nauseate babies!

Thank you Jim, I'll make a note of that. I like using the Lucas products, but have to admit there are times when I just don't feel up to making yet another stop in town, so will buy whatever grease the local ShopKo or gas station happens to sell. ...But "now" we have internet! I can order what I want.
