Maytag dryer

Thanks for all the replies. Vent is clean, airflow was blowing louvers open. Fan probably tight on shaft. Will check motor for lint. I did clean with shop vac earlier. Motor humms when pushing start button. Will try to start motor without belt. Will check to see if there is a capacitor. Will check thermostats. I am thinking centrifugal switch or start capacitor if it has one is the place to start.

Also there is what is called a "sail switch", a little flapper somewhere after the fan, when activated it lets the coils heat up.

Also, just because duct louvers are flapping, don't assume there is "full" airflow. There might be, or close enough to it, but our louvers were flapping just like normal. Still, I blow out about a handful of lint a year, and the dryer sits perpendicular, right next to the wall. Very short duct run, and no screws for it to catch on. Just the damp lint being blown through that happens to stick to the sides, then cools. ...Kinda like having plaque in your arteries.
