what is it plus questions

Looks to be some sort of stamper. I am unable to locate a tag, brand, model, or anything stamped to show what it is. 1)Could it be re-
fitted to be a shear, 2)Does anyone know what model or brand this is?

On second thought I think it's a hydraulic press. There is a die mounted in it with a die and die springs. Looks pretty heavy.

It looks to be a hydraulic "C" press as martin reece said. Looks like whatever they were making would get punched down through the bed plate and slide out the bottom--a pretty common arrangement.

Looks like an embossing die in a C-frame press for stamping embosses in large sheets.
