battery revival

I've got a 12 volt 750 cca Exide battery that is permanently mounted on my car hauler trailer... runs the winch. I have a 1 amp (I think) solar panel keeping it topped off and occasionally I switch it to the breakaway battery. Probably been 6-8 months since I've used it and when I did.. it died rather quickly... charging would bring it back... but again sagged quickly. The cells were a little low on water but not below the plates... topped them off and put it on a batteryminder maintenance charger...

I can get it up to 14 volts... but when I put it under load it drops to about 4 it's been on this charger for days

diagnosis ??? salvageable ???

IMHO, it is shot.

I had a battery that I kept nursing along, finally shorted internally, blew up and sprayed acid all over, now just replace them.
 
I just went through the same thing with my motorcycle battery. It would start but only once. Finally I just hook up a 12v 50 watt light and timed how long it took to drain to 11 volts. 15 minutes. I quit timing the drain of the new battery after 2 hours. Epson salts might raise the voltage but does nothing for our problem, lack of reserve.

probably 4-5 years old... didn't know epsoms salt could do that... but guess it's time to get off the wallet.. I was hoping I might bring it back
 
Charge it up then take it to a place that can load test it. Batterys die and no amount of bragging, feather fluffing and secret remedies will make a difference. You should have the minder/maintainer on a battery every day it sit's idle if you want to extend life.
 
i have a caterpillar smart battery charger ,,. really dont care to use it because its got bells amnd whistle that are
diffikcult to understand ,, BUT ,, it has a battery reciondition setting that has given new life to serveral batteryss ar=ound
