Ran across a Youtube video on this seal puller and after fighting with a few seals using the drill / screw method thought I would give it a try. Found one on eBay for about $17.00 shipped.

Pretty simple, hook the foot in behind the seal and pry it out. Sure allot easier than any other method I have used and lessons the chance of messing up the shaft or seal seat.

Not associated with this in any way, just a handy tool that is saving me some grief.

I have one in my toolbox. It has both come in handy and also shown its limitations. It won't pull all seals, but it sure works well in close places if the seal isn't too tight in the bore. If the seal is too tight, it will roll down the lip and that's about it. But you can usually get a hook-type puller in the area it rolled down and still do the job.
 

Those brown seals fall out to begin with. I have never seen a brown seal harden up and leak like the black ones do. I have that tool and used it, it can be broken on a tuff black seal.

To complement your seal job this tool is NICE to have. It also has a puller and those black seals will break the tips off it also.

I brought the original version that's all metal it cost in access of $200. That's what you get for being the first on the block to have it... A link they have came down in price...

Why because a good rebuilt power steering pump is rare as hen's teeth :cry: This one with 250K on it was in better shape than all the rebuilt ones I could get may hands on... I sealed it and moved on...
