Have a friend that always goes to farm auctions, the big one can go for $250.00+ depending on condition. No idea on the smaller one.

Not sure I can help you with the price of your anvil. Your anvil may be very old and rare and of value to a collector. Could be newer and not so rare but still usable to a metal worker. And finally, there are very new anvils that are quite pricey.
If you are willing to spend some time researching your anvil, it could at least inform you if what you have is old and rare or not so rare. Some old anvils are marked with the manufacturer's symbol and some times with the weight.
There is a book about anvils ("Anvils in America" by Richard Postman). I borrowed it once from a friend to research my two old anvils.
At local auctions, (South east PA) there is always a lot of interest in anvils and blacksmith equipment. Not sure if the buyers are metal workers or collectors.
If you tried to attach a picture, the site may not let you post a picture as a new user.
Check Craigslist for prices of local anvils.
Good luck.

Thank you very much. I just inherited a shop full of old stuff like old saws, reapers, harvest and of course anvils. I want to clean up the shop and I'm not into collectable farm tools so I'm just trying to figure out best way to sell all this stuff.

I uploaded a picture but it doesn't display. If you want picture give me your email I will send pic of both.

If it's something that looks like an anvil but it's not, it probably isn't worth much. If it is actually an anvil but has been abused, it's still not worth much. If it is a real anvil and is in good shape it could be worth a grand or more.

Older anvils are typically made with a wrought iron body and and a steel face. Look carefully at the side of the anvil, if it has a steel face you should be able to see where the face meets the body. Newer anvils are made of a single piece of cast steel. Things that look like anvils but are not are made of cast iron.

Look on the sides for a makers mark. It may be hard to see if the anvil is covered in rust or paint. If one is there it may be either a single symbol of combination of symbols. Vulcan is a pretty common anvil. Decent but not a collectors item.

The one I have was made in the mid to late 1800's. It was passed to my dad from his dad and I now have it. When you hit it has a ring to it. I usually go to the black irons days at the Hartwick Pines and there are some craftsman there making stuff I could only dream of

The anvil guy on eBay gets 500 . I bought a Peter Wright for 60 bucks and like an idiot sold it for 120. I had no idea of its value to replace.

Well I figured I would sell the big one for $200 and the little one for $50. But I am gonna get rid of them because I'm trying to clean up my shop. Thanks for reply
