Have a stihl pole saw ht 131 less than year old had branch fall on it and bent shaft- straightened as best I could but makes a lot of noise and sometimes won't turn blade-Deere want's $ 350 for new shaft any other options ?

Search ebay for the part to see if you can get a better price. Only other option might be to get a used saw for parts.

When I worked for a landscaping outfit, we went through about one of those a week, with six to ten pole saws working each day. They are aluminum to save weight and must be pretty near dead straight or they give the problems you described. Unless you absolutely need the reach, I recommend you get a shorter non-telescoping model; it's just too easy to bend or break these.

Another thing depending on your skill level. Take the shaft apart. Now take the tube and run a nice clean piece of water pipe through it. GENTLY tap the bend with a hard plastic face hammer. You want to kneed the kink out. Good luck with it. Key words patience and gently.
