Flight School is over

I have a bird nest on my front porch. Sunday mom started pushing the little ones out for flight school.I saw one that didn't look like he would make it. But I guess they all passed. Because this morning they are all gone.Amazing how fast animals grow up.

Dang Billy, you had me worried there for a minute! I read this title about flight school being over, then see it's you posting. All I could think of was you up on your truck and impulsively (ie., accidentally) trying to learn to fly! *lol*

We had doves on the back porch a few years back.

It was interesting watching the parents teaching the young ones to fly and forage. The back yard was a somewhat safe place for them since right now we don't have pets. They would stay together for a few days, hopping around, eventually making longer flights, then to the roof, then off to see the world!

I did try to fly one time. Got drunk and walked off the back. Of an M816 Army wrecker. Short flight and I was sore for days.

My daughter had told me that there was a bird's nest on the rear of the house above our deck. Her dog was going crazy over it. I went out and looked several times. Couldn't find it. Then, last week, I was standing on the deck and hear "cheep, cheep". Still couldn't see anything, then I followed the sound to a vent under the eave. The mother had found a hole to get into the soffit and made a nest on top of the rectangular vent. It'll be easy to remove (pop the vent off and the nest should come with it) but I want to make sure the younguns are gone.
