Anyone ever install an hour meter on one? The model I bought didn't come with an hour meter and I was trying to install one and have run into a problem. There is a place for the meter and a wire for it but the brown wire in the harness which is suppose to be positive has no power. I know there is power on the seat safety switch which is on the same line. Am I doing something wrong or does the mower need to go back to the service department?

No you can't get to the wire under the seat sitting on it but I had the motor running. I guess I could make a length of wire to extend it out where I can get to it. What caused me to checking the wiring is I completely wired in the hour meter yesterday and used the mower for a half an hour and the meter didn't work.

OK I got a couple lengths of wire and ran out from under the seat and while sitting in the seat the outlet for the hour meter does have power. Apparently the hour meter I purchased was defective.

That way they can bring the price down if they don't include that accessory. Personally I think they could have skipped the switch in the seat that cuts the thing off if you get off and pick up a stick.

For what its worth, I bought a Hustler zero turn a few years ago - came without an hour meter. Found out when I bought a meter for it, it was a"plug and play" hook up. Wondering if yours is the same?

Yes it was a plug and play. They made a spot for it in the frame and wired a plug for it but left it off. It just turned out the meter I bought was defective. The wiring confused me as it was connected to the seat switch which turned off the power to the hour meter unless you were sitting in the seat. It was a cheap meter I got off ebay for about ten bucks.

My old Timecutter did not have an hour meter either. Never installed one but that mower was used lots for 11 years cutting several acres. Never had many problems out of it except the pulleys on the deck. The B&S motor finally started burning almost as much oil as gas so I sold it last year for $400 and upgraded to a Toro Z Master commercial unit. The Timecutter was a tough mower.
